The only way I've found is through konquor in KDE, if I open up to my home DIR, then on the left side of the windows, there are 3 main levels
Home Directory
Network
Root
Open the Network, and you should see your workgroup.

when i do that it tells me it needs to be configured and to go to LAN Browsing underthe K control panel. I went there, it all seems compilcated, but i gave it a shot, and now when i go to konqueror it says it couldnt connect to host localhost. wtf?
i cant find the readme or help file on it...how did you set it up?

If it's win 9x/me, the best help for samba I've found is the "plain English tutorial" at www.linuxjunior.org. (http://www.linuxjunior.org.) I enabled me to get samba working right from both ends. ;)

Well, all I have to do is open my file browser, and Network is already there... I even made a link on my desktop to it.
Sometimes its empty, and I have to manually start smbd and nmbd, but I use SWAT to monitor it and can start them from there. I can even config smb.conf from my win98 machine

smbclient \\computername\directory
you might be prompted for a password if you specified one in windows.

ok i can view my network by using the smbclient command, but i dont want to use the cli for file sharing. I have followed the NHF's and PET's and still, and samba is running great, but i cant use KFM to view my network!
im on slackware 8

try LinNeighborhood. Extremely easy to use; look it up on freshmeat.net. Good luck.
