Have Mandrake 8.1 installed on a second puter along with Windows 98SE.Trying to setup Mandrake to print thru the printer on W2K Pro.(Able to do this no problem with 98).Have Samba installed.Have created a user name for Linux in W2K and in the security section for the printer. I can ping from one machine to the other both ways.I have setup other puters in Windows on a home network so I know IP addy's,host names etc. Setup on a home network with a Linksys 4 port router. Host Machine is always 192.168.1.xxx, printer LPT1.I've tried going thru Printer Drake >selected smb printer. No luck so far. Any files I should be manually editing? Server address ID > should I put the name I use in Windows? (Confused1.duh.adelphia.net)? Or IP addy's with or without the Router gateway in it? In setting up in a Windows client I normally can just browse thru the network neighborhood to locate the printer. Is there a way to do this in Mandrake 8.1? Any and all suggestions will be welcome- thank's- dazed & confused again- Dave

Printer configuration was for a SMB/Windows Printer.Below is the info I got looking at the Print Mgr info:
Name: Epson2K
Type: Local Printer >> (Shouldn't this say network?).
Location:192.168.1.xxx > (correct Ip For W2K Machine).
url : ipp://192.168.xx1:631/printers/Epson2K (the xx1 addy is the Linux puter)
Device: smb://"workgroup name"/Duke1/LPT1/Epson2K"
(Duke1)being the W2K puter name as used in Windows networking.For Linux should I be supplying the Host name for the W2K puter as Linux does: ie uke1.col.adelphia.net ??
Interface Section:
Printer Type: SMB Printers (Windows)
url: smb://"Workgroup"/Duke1/LPT1/Epson2K
I can ping from either machine.I downloaded a port scanner and installed on W2K.Trying to ping and scan ports of the Linux puter gave up an "unresolved" message for the Linux puter IP addy and no ports open > scanned from 137 to 631.
Disabled Zonealarm -same problem.
Any suggestions? Thank's- Dave
