actually, ipx/spx is used by novell. windoze uses netbios over tcp/ip... look at the nbtstat command: Netbios over Tcp/ip status

edit: oh and NetBEUI stands for NetBIOS Extended User Interface... its a fast protocol but non-routable :D

not to be argumentative, but i guess i am either confused or something

i am looking at the network properties on a win98 box, ipx/spx protocol, it has a netbios tab, says
"NetBIOS support allows you to run NetBIOS applications over the IPX/SPX compatible protocol" then there is a check box and it says "I want to enable NetBIOS over IPX/SPX"

so what up wid dat?

hmm... maybe it runs over both tcp/ip and ipx/spx for compatability... maybe we were both confused and just learned something new :D
