I have been trying to install Mandrake 8 on an older system I have hear, and I have been getting two error messages. Both begin with an abnormal termination, and then i get either a signal 11 recieved or a signal 4 recieved and the system shutdown.

Can anyone tell me what is causing this and how I can repair it, if I can repair it? By the way this happens in Red Hat 7.1 and Mandrake 7.2 though I can load 7.0 Red Hat with no problems

its an issue with your gfx card if my memory serves me correctly.

was it before or after you set up x?

did the test screen appear correctly or did you not test it?

I never got that far. it happens immediately after the "Loading Program into memory" portion of the install.

I have 64 meg ram, with a 200 mhz processor, i have tried the vgalo and text mode installs as well to no avail

OK I think I might have an idea of what is going on, now if only someone knows how to fix it.

It appears to be a problem loading the second stage ramdisk. The install program for some reason is not able to initialize the RamDisk, does anyone have any ideas on a fix?
