SMC 1211 ethernet card

well I have posted my msg on two other places but I still have the problem. I have a SMC ez card, 1211, module rtl8139.o, suse 6.4. I can do a modprobe, and insmod on the module, I can also ifconfig once the module is installed and the alias eth0 = rtl8139 is set, but after doin all that I notice my ethernet card light doesnt come on on the back, therefor the card isnt really on, cant dhcp on it, or anything like that. For some background information, it used to work under mandrake 7.0, redhat 6.1 6.2, but one day it just quit working under mandrake, I think it might have been because I moved the ethernet to a different PCI slot, but I have moved it around a million times and that doesnt fix it. Also in windows it works fine, eventhough one day windows wasnt able to use it either, but after rebooting it worked fine, that I just blame on microsoft tho, not on the card!!! Anyway, any help would be very greately apreciated, I am going crazy without internet on my linux partition.

I don't know about in suse but I've had problems with that card in RedHat, the problem I had was IRQ related, the SMC 1211 really really wants to have IRQ 10... thats the only thing I can think of... hope it helps

I know this thread is old so you may have solved this already. However, I have the SMC1211 card and I have had to set it up to use the epic100 drivers in both the Caldera and Corel distros.

Good to try and answer what questions you can, but resurrecting 6 month old posts is a little too much I would think. Try to concentrate on the more recent.
