Several months ago, I read where a linux SuSE user wanted to know how to stop xconsole from loading whenever they loaded kdm. I've done a search for this but was unable to turn up any help. I have SuSE 7.0 on one of my linux partitions, and this xconsole thing is a nusiance each time kdm is started. Do any of you regular SuSE users know how to get rid of this? TIA

I'm not entirely sure if SuSE shares the configuration file, but for some distros, you can edit the xinit.rc file to get rid of startup processes. There should be a line in the file specifying xterm's loading with a certain window size, etc. Nix that line and you should be xterm-free.

MERRY XMAS! The keyword here, is RUNLEVEL. I think if you follow this keyword, with the distro you have, you can set it accordingly. I know that with RH6.2, I was able to enter the chosen RUNLEVEL at the LILO prompt to temporarily change it, and I'm sure your distro documentation will have a section on how to set/reset RUNLEVEL.
