I am trying to install a tar.gz file. I can untar it but when I run ./configure I get this message...

Checking for kde headers installed...configure: error: your system is not able to compile a small kde application.

Check, if you installed the KDE header files correctly.

If anyone can help with this problem it would be great!!!!!

The standard linux-mandrake install doesn't include the necessary files to compile programs yourself. You can manually install all the rpm files needed to do this - or - much easier is to put your mandrake install disk in and choose upgrade but this time choose development.

Thanks for the reply, it is much appreciated. When I did the install I did the "Development" choice. I still can not install anything. Has anyone else had this problem? Could there be a problem with disc that I burnt?
