you are running debian now? If you are running potato (2.2), go to http://www.debian.org/News/2001/20010415

if you are running woody, i believe that you wont have any problems.

You will also need the 2.4.6 modutils and possibly upgrade glibc and binutils.

where do you get the modutils and the other stuff that you mentioned?
Are they specific to the distro that i am using?

modutils from www.kernel.org (http://www.kernel.org) where you got the kernel sources from.

binutils ??? You may want to check to see if they need to be updated.

glibc I upgraded from my distros ftp servers.

I would suggest you read the kernel documentation to find out what versions are required of the above mentioned.

Unpack the source and look in that directory for Documentation/Changes. That file will tell you the exact minimum versions of certain files you need and the commands to run to check them.
