Hi...

I've scanned the manual, but somehow I'm missing something pretty basic:

How do I switch between KDE and GNOME in Mandrake 7.2?

Thanks.

When you reach the login screen towards the bottom there is a box that probably say KDE in it. Hit the dropdown arrow and you will see Gnome and other X-desktops.

You can either boot to a GUI login (runlevel 5) or put a .xinitrc file in your home directory and specify a desktop/window manager in it.

Thank you. This is probably what I'm looking for since I don't use a graphical login.

Odd that Mandrake doesn't bother to tell you how to do this though...

Cheers.

Or, since you dont graphically log in you could just

startx Gnome
and leave off the Gnome for kde
