Anyone know how to mount a share on a win95 box so it would show up in KDE as a local file. Sort of like Network Neighborhood, but no as fancy.

The smbmount command does this. I'm not sure if there's a graphical tool in KDE to handle this for you or not.
If not, the general idea is:
smbmount //computername/sharename /mnt
This would make the files at \\COMPUTERNAME\SHARENAME available in the /mnt directory (which must already exist). When you're done, just use:
umount /mnt

Scott
Im interested in doing something like this but thought you could only use smbclient that gives an ftp like front end. I cant find smbmount in the samba distribution. Where can I find it ?

Here's a hot little application for you. A fiend of mine found it the other day while I was trying to help him do exactly what you are wanting to do. The application is called 'LinNeighborhood', and <suprise> it looks and acts alot like Network Neighborhood for Windows. This app requires GTK but there are static versions available so you don't have to worry about that.
Here is the URL:

I got it and it is truly a useful application. I used it to figure out the commands I needed to issue in my rc files at boot time to automatically mount those my SMB shares.
I hope you guys find it as useful as I did. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Actually, smbmount isn't part of the Samba package. My distribution (Red Hat) included it in a package called smbfs (smbfs-2.0.1-4.i386.rpm). I'm not exactly sure where you could find it in general; probably Freshmeat could help.

If you are looking for something that looks like the windows network neighbourhood, well, use KDEexplore. It sort of looks like the network thing in windows explorer. But i'll try to download linneibourhood, looks cool!
