Ok, I can connect to my windows machine from my linux box. I can not however, do crap from windows to linux. When I go to net neighborhood, it says that the network is inaccessible. If I do a search for my linux computer, it finds it. If I try to ping based on a name, it comes up with an incorrect ip (192.168.0.0 instead of .1) I am assuming that this is the base of my problems, but what the heck do I do to fix it?
Ok. I got them to connect if I used ip numbers instead of names. Help!

Well do you have your Windows networking setup correctly. You need to specify an IP number, workgroup, and subnet mask. The IP numbers should range from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254 I believe for a standard Class C network (there are a ton of other options). The workgroup can be anything but keep the name the same. The subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0 for a Class C network. Make sure these settings are the same for both Windows and Samba.

Are you getting a network login prompt on the startup of Windows? Are you logging on and not pushing cancel? These may be problems.

The other thing is configuring Samba to share stuff. Samba is more security oriented with its sharing than Windows. You may have to do some tweaking to get it as laxed a Microsoft's stuff is.
