how do i limit the maximum bandwidth each machines in my network? currently, when one of the machine is downloading a large file at a local site, other machines is very slow just to surf. is there any way to limit this? or even better, is there any program that can allocate bandwidth efficiently?

Hi:

Have a look at the Andvanced Router How-TO. It covers what you need to do. If you want to do a search on this, use traffic shaping or load balancing as keywords.
