any help would be great!
oh and does anyone know how to dual boot win ME and red hat 7.1 like this:
i have 40 gig hd
i installed windows first keeping it below the 1024 mark on my hd so i did 7 gigs windows then i did my linux partitions for 10 gig but i cant use the rest of my hd! there is like 23 gig i want for windows but i cant get it to work.
linux = sooo frustrating =)
did you try fdisk /mbr ?
for the wasted drive, did you try using diskDruid and make a windows partition for the remaining space?
hope that helps.

in Linux, lilo -u will remove it
with a DOS boot disk, fdisk /mbr will remove it

Also, if you're trying to dual boot, always remember to install windows first. If you install windows second, it will do everything in it's power to wipe out all other operating systems, whereas all other operating systems don't have a problem running alongside windows when you install them. (in my experience anyway).
Just to add to what others have said: if you're using Redhat 7.1, you shouldn't have to worry about the 1024 cylinder limitation (http://www.redhat.com/support/alex/160.html).

OMG! i heard that i didnt have to worry about the 1024 cylinder limitation but i installed a 10 gig windows partition and then when i installed red hat 7.1 i used disk druid and it told me it couldnt install the /boot and /root partitions before the 1024 cylinder.
i have an 800mhz p3 system that is only 6 months old. if someone could help me around that limitation i would be gratefull!!
i want to experiment with linux but dont want it taking up 33gb out of my 40 gig drive!
idealy i want 30gig windows 10gig linux.
do i need to use fdisk or is there another way to get around 1024 limitation?
THANKS AGAIN!!

RedHat 7.1 will not let you make the boot or / partitions above the 1024 limit using Disk Druid, but if you use another tool like Partition magic (which I am partial to) or maybe even linux's version of fdisk, to make the partitions Disk Druid will let you mount. It will fuss and warn you but will allow you to do it.
Hope this helps.
