It sounds like you are trying to use vnc in conjunction with xhost. Typically, all you have to do is to be running a vnc server and then the vnc client on the client computer (xvnc or something similar) and it will open a second x display in a window inside your desktop.

I am assuming you have already read the guide....This is how you go about using it. On the computer that is serving, install the software vnc-server. Type vncserver at a cl, it should ask you for a password to access it. Okay. Client machine. I assume you have already installed vncviewer. in a cl, type vncviewer, it should pop up with a small window that asks for the server. Type in server_name:1 (assuming that vncserver told you it was placing a vnc on 1. It should prompt you for the password and you are in business.

I've done that... but i only get another terminal window... not GUI... the reason for me using VNC is to access the GNOME GUI. How do i do this? Thanks...

Okay, we seem to have a grasp on where you are at. Now go to your other thread and read the reply there, that should help.
