mail list

Ok, I had done this along time ago, and I seem to forget how to do it. I had a file called "email_list", that was just a list of email addressses. I used to be able to give the command "mail email_list" and it would send the emailto all of the people on the list.
Now when i try to do this.. it tries to send to "email_list" instead of the emails adresses contained in the file. :(

How can I get the mail to send to all the people in the file?
