Linux on a laptop

I have a laptop that's a p90 and has 8 meg of ram :) it's a beater but i would love to use it to play with linux..what's the best way to install linux without a cd rom and what distro is good for newbies :) thanks a bunch...

Nothing that's going to be scaled down is going to be easy for newbies. But if you already know how to basically run a linux box, give slackware or debian a shot. They both have floppy only installs (debian only if you have a network or ppp connection and slackware without a lot of the perks). Or you could try a floppy only linux like trinix or something.
