I have my Linux machine connecticuted to the internet. I have two network cards in it and i want other computers to use the internet connection from the linux machine. I do not want to use the dhcp on the linux machine. i am already in a netwok with dhcp.if i put in the ip address in the proxy section of a computer i get the linux page.

Using DHCP on your internals is really up to you. I found that with less than 10 PC's on my home network, it was just easier for me to assign each PC an IP address, assign my external nic as the gateway, and tell them the DNS addresses.

Never set up DHCP, but with only a few PC's to worry about, I don't really see the point.
