hey guys, just a warning...total linux newbie here...successfully installed mandrake 8.0...got on KDE...couldnt get online...I guess the net isnt autoconfiged...trying to get on the internet with my nic card on my LAN...but...here is the problem I cant get to this screen in the KDE internet setup.. http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/doc/80/en/user.html/draknet.html#MANDRAKE-CONTROL-CENTER when I click connection or connection sharing it tells me it hasnt responded and isnt installed...how do I install this..? or how do i get online! heh...thanks a ton...please email me!

is your internet connection going through another box? If so... goto command line,
su
type root pass
type: netconf
and setup your network and make sure you put in your gateway and nameserver
going through a router...no other box.. =(

then use the port that connects the router to your network/computer on the router as your gateway, and you can try leaving the nameserver blank, or put that in if you know it, if it doesn't work, and you don't know the nameserver, get on a windows system, and type `winipcfg' to popup your ip information for your system.. should be there as the second number down or something, your dns.
