A little help for a newbie, in my attempt to update samba I tryed to deinstall samba through RPM Drake (Mandrake 7.2) and then reinstall 2.0.8. In the process I lost the ability to administer through SWAT. I updated samba through the update function of Drakconfig and now I have swat back but I cannot start the SMBD deamon. I have it set to start on startup and it shows it starting in the graphical startup process but when I go into SWAT it shows it stopped and it will not restart. Any help would be appreciated

Can you start it with "etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start" at the command line?

Thank you for responding I have got it to start now but I cannot browse the network from any of the windows computers nor can I get to the shares on the linux/samba server.
Haven't had a chance to fix it cause my windows computer crashed and I had to get it fixed. Its back up but now I am on vacation and am out of state so when I get back I will try to get it set back up. Thank you again for responding and if you have any more suggestions please let me know. I really like your signature by the way too cool.
