Getting machine names

Way back when I was using win9x, you could get a list of computers on the network with 'network neighboorhood'. There is a linux equivalent, right? I can't seem to find anything that will give me the names of comps anywhere.

Try to find LinNeighborhood.bin on the Internet somewhere. Try tucows for it. Or you can use samba I think? not to familiar with that though.
