I've been dabbling with Linux off and on for a few months (right now off as i'm waiting for the harddisk manufacturer to send me an RMA#) and been wondering, is there any anti-virus software available for Linux or is Linux imune to viruses?

The above is a great little article on just this subject, and it's only one day old, and it has links to software...
Basically, Linux is VERY virus resistant. If it does get a virus, that virus can only affect that users files, not the computer as a whole.. (unless you are dumb and are running as root all the time)
BUT, linux can pass virii to other computers (win, mac, etc), especially if it's a file server.
well, I'm to drunk to explain it any better... read the article...

Thanks man. That's the type of info I was looking for, good article there too.
Since I'll be transfering alot of stuff over the Internet back and forth I think I'll be looking into some of the protection software, just so I don't screw up my user files. http://discussions.linuxplanet.com//smile.gif
So I guess the thread can be closed .
