i just baught a new system and i want to dual boot linux and win98, i have a 13 gig hd and it is currently partitioned in 8 gig and 5gig fat32 partitiones and i have win98 intalled on the 8 gig, when i try and use redhat diskdruid to partition a linux boot partition in the 5 gig space it gives me an error about not having enough space, is this because i hav more than 1024 cylenders, is there any way to fix this??
by the way the win98 partition ic labeled c driver, so i guress it is first

Get Partition Magic 4 and get rid of the fat32 partition you want to use. Free up that space for Linux. Then try to use disk druid again to make your Linux partitions during the install. Fat32 is for windose98 only.
Again, get rid of the fat32 on your 5gig partition w/partition magic 4. Free that space up so you can install Linux properly.
Don't jump right into this without skimming some documentation first.

i tried deleting the fat32 in disk druid, but thats not the problem, i found out that lilo cant boot linux if the /boot is past 1024 cylenders, is there any way to get around this?

You tried to delete a Fat32 partition from disk druid? Hmm, I've never tried that before (do you still have windows). That's not what I said to do in my last post, BTW. If you free up that space using Partition Magic 4 as I said, this will work. make sure you install win98 first. Learn how to use Partition Magic 4 it's a great application. Disk Druid is very limited as far as preparing and resizing your initial free space needed for the Linux Install. Disk Druid is great once you have prepared beforehand. Play around, and take your time.
I have been doing all of this on a box dedicated for experimentation. NO GUTS, NO GLORY! thats me.

ttocs,
yes, I am also midnightoil
sorry for the confusion.
I saw that someone else was using midnightoil
so I switched to winhat99. I keep forgetting to use winhat99.

I thought they corrected this problem, but evidently not. Redhat 5.2 didn't recognize hdisk space past the 8GB mark. There's probably a fix on their page. However, one way to get around it is to create Linux Native partitions in Windows with PQMagic 4.0 past the 8GB mark. That way you don't have to create them with Disk Druid, which will tell you there is not enough free space.
