Here we go again...
Two computers on a home network.
1) Was running NT 4.0, sp 5, upgraded to Win2000 RC3. (Yes, it really is an upgrade.)
2) Samba 2.0.5a on Mandrake 6.1.
I thought it was a password encryption thing. Turned on encrypted passwords on Samba. Used mksmbpasswd.sh to generate a smbpasswd file.
Cool. My Linux box shows up in the Win2000 Explorer. But when I click on the icon, I get, "Path not found". (Same thing when I try to "net use z: <Linux box\sharename>".)
I can ping from one computer to another.
1) smbpasswd doesn't work: "machine <linuxbox> rejected the session setup. Error was : code 131. Failed to change password entry for Charles"
I get this error trying to change my samba password as user Charles, or as root.
2) All of a sudden, I can't see the Linux box again from the Win2000 box...
Any insights into hooking up Win2000 to a Samba server?
TIA
