Okay, I didn't want to ask for help on this one, I read the NHF file and followed it step by step. I got to the part where I needed to install the rpm and that was the end. That didn't work and I don't understand the part about the "sourcefile" nor have I ever worked with source before.
I downloaded samba 2.0.6 so that the NHF would be for the same version that I am installing.
Now what?

What's the name of the file that you downloaded and where did you get if from? I looked on www.samba.org (http://www.samba.org) and didn't see an RPM file that looked like it was designed especially for Mandrake 7.2.

Okay, I looked on the Mandrake CD and found an RPM called
samba-common-2.0.7-17mdk.i586.rpm . I installed it with the command rpm -Uvh ... . Now I guess I need to go back to the NHF file and see If I can't pick up from here?
