Hey all well I moved beyond the NIC issue and have a working NIc now :)

ifconfig output on eth0 looks good
However now I have a different probelm with my cable router.

I have a Linksys router/switch for cable modem users.

Well here is my issue. I can not ping my routers ip or my Win98 box from my linux box. I can't even ping myself. The address are on my side of the WAN. (IE my LAN subnet) I can ping my loopback.

Also /etc/resolv.conf has my cable companies DNS server address in it? My cable router is supposed to act as a DHCP server? Shouldn't my routers Ip be in teh /etc/resolv.conf?

I can ping my linux box from the Win98 machine and the cable router too.?

What do I need to do?

I am running Red Hat 6.2 kernel 2.2.14-50

PS: How do I change the local host name thing. I thought it was just edit /etc/hosts, did that and nothing has changed.

In netscape type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. Go to the DHCP settings and turn on the server option. Your cable modem should go in the WAN slot on your router. Each PC goes in the other slots. I have had no problems using the same router.
