Thanks Mikenell Unruly 11-30-2000, 05:54 PM As long as it's either already supported somehow in the kernel, or you have driver modules, then you should be all set. You could also try using alien to convert them to .deb and see how that goes... ::shrugs:: it could be a crap shoot though, seeing as onboard soundcards are sketchy as is. ------------------ Nathan Q: How many existentialists does it take to screw in a lightbulb? A: Two. One to screw it in and one to observe how the lightbulb itself symbolizes a single incandescent beacon of subjective reality in a netherworld of endless absurdity reaching out toward a maudlin cosmos of nothingness. Mikenell 11-30-2000, 06:41 PM I know but when I kept my other one the sound was distorted even though I had disabled the onboard one so I decided to use the onboard one instead especially when I saw it had linux drivers even though they're not for debian. Mikenell compunuts 11-30-2000, 08:58 PM Debian should support even with the generic sound card driver. I also have an on-board no name sound chip. Windows said it's Crystal Codec but no chipset to be found on the MB itself. I installed Debian on the other exact same hardware machine and found sound97 Codec support. Although the sound volume seems to be low, I was able to play the music although I have to leave the volume control to maximum. Other than that, it works. justlinux.com
