I downloaded redhat 7.0 the other day. The file I downloaded was
7.0-respin-disc1.iso
for i386. I burned this file to a CD but there is no file structure to it as there is in my old 6.0 CD that I purchased. So of course, an install did not work. I downloaded the boot.img file and copied that to a disc using rewrite (from the older 6.0 CD). Do I need to do something like that for the .iso image? Thanks

Are you sure that you have a complete file? Where there any errors in the download? It sounds like your file is corrupt!

No you don't need to rawrite the iso image. all you need is CD burning software that will burn from an iso and that is it

I think the file is fine. I'm guessing that my software may not be writing the iso file correctly. Is is supposed to write the iso exactly as is? All I can see on the CD is the iso file, not directory structure at all.
I'll try downloading the file from another ftp site...

thanks

Actually the iso is the compressed image fo the directory structure. Just like a tar or gz file. The burning software should take the ISO and "exrtact" it to the correct structure on the CD when it is burned. What software are you using?

In other words, the .iso file should not be on the CD at all.

I hope that makes sense!

Ahh... got it. 7.0 all installed - X configured with 32 bit color and great res. I'm ready to go!
