Loaded RH 5.1 (Can't get hold of 5.2 or 6.0 at the moment).
Graphics card etc detected ok on install.
Copied XF86Config.eg to XF86Config in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11
startx... gui comes up ok but as soon as I touch the mouse the cursor goes to the top of the screen and won't come down again.

Mouse = microsoft ps2
XF86Config has correct details in "pointers"

And!!! There's no XF86Setup file!!!
"find / -print | grep XF86Setup" comes back with nothing.

I'm at the point of throwing down all my toys and sulking so you had better help.

I hate to sound pessimistic but 5.1 was known to be very buggy. I'd recommend getting at least 5.2, even better 6.0. Hell it's only $1.99 plus shipping. If you insist on using 5.1, as far as the moust problem goes, is it a true Microsoft mouse, or is it something like a Logitech mouse or something? I'm thinking you may be using he wrong drivers for it. Post the mouse manufacturer.

/usr/X11R6/bin/XF86Setup is the normal path to XF86Setup at least in 5.2 it is. Check there. If it's not there, you may be stuck editing XF86Config manually.

Same happened for me with a PS2 mouse trying to compile X 3.3.3 from source code, mouse just went crazy at the top of the screen. I ended up giving up and installed 3.3.2 from package and then upgraded the X Server so that my TNT would work http://discussions.linuxplanet.com//smile.gif
