I just got my dsl connection with uswest. They sent me an internal(PCI- Intel Pro/dsl 2100 modem). uswest provided a login name and password as well as dns info, pop accounts, and a dynamically assinged ip address. I would sure like to know if it is possible to use this modem under linux. I have made my own childish and simplistic stabs at trying to get it to work, but can't even get linux to recognize the modem. I haven't found any *nix information on this modem at the intel site and uswest officially doesn't support linux, so they arn't much help either. I'm running Mandrake 7.1, I haven't installed any pppoe software. Can anyone help?

Sorry to tell u this, but it won't work in linux. I'm using a cisco 675 right now. It's externel so it works fine. It's actually not a modem. It's an ethernet-to-internet bridge.
