i have instaled sane-1.0.4 backend on my rh 6.2 server. 2 scanners (scsi) on server. instaled gimp and xsanewin on windows pc.
sane sees scanners scanimage-L. tho they don't show in /proc/scsi/scsi.
they are auto detected at bootup no probs and i can scan with them using xsane on the server but i can't get xsanewin to find them on the network, i have made sge and sgd 777
i have seen modprobe mentioned but i don't know how to use it to set up the scsi driver file that should be in /proc. i have read the man page but i just don't understand it.
i am a newbie thats being a bit too *****ious i think,
any sane experts out there ?

discovered i hadn't configured the saned network daemon. a lot more happens now !!
tho xsane-win32 won't fire up its frontend.
The scanner lights flash as they are probed and linux reports the presence of the scsi devs. in /log/messages a healthy connection is reported but the windows bit won't fire up. the gimp reports the xsane.exe has crashed when its used as a plugin.
anyone with working xsane-win32 any tips please
