Hi,

I have (after several months) set up a home LAN under SuSE 7.1 using a 486 as gateway running 2.4.2 kernel and iptables masquerading. The network has two further machines both dual boot win98/linux (suse7.1), one of which is a laptop. The network is running fine, all internal machines are visible, as is internet access via an ADSL modem. Both windows and linux operate fine. The only problem I have is that the desktop machine under linux is only able to get netscape internet access as root. For other users netscape cant reach any web pages. However, ssh seems to work fine for all users. I have opened all ports on the firewall machine, but no luck.

I dont really know where to start with this one - so any ideas of parameters to check would be very useful.

Cheers,

Have you always had this problem? I believe netscape is in the /usr/bin/ dir maybe chmod 777 netscape that'll give everyone permission to use it.

Hope that helped pal.

Maybe it is a configuration thing. Remember that for each user you must re-configure the program. Also check that it is a Netscape only problem and that you can still ping places like yahoo.com from the other usernames.
