after installing linux initally it installs Lilo right?
How would you go about re-installing it in the MBR of your hard drive after installing windows 2000 over it? is this actually posible or would you need to always boot from a disk to be able to use linux?

running lilo will write the config to the boot sector again.
If win2k is on fat32, then you can boot it thru lilo. If its ntfs, then you should use ntloader to boot linux and nt
