I am new to the linux world and very intrested in the functionality. My LAN consists of One server (LINUX) and 4 Win98 machines w/ hub and external cable modem. I have search through many HOW TO's, and none seem to be give me line by line instructions. My New server has 2 NIC's. Can anyone give me a line by line instructions to configuring my LAN to able to share the connection w/ my other machines and enabling DHCP for my Win machines? I am familiar with networking tech terminolgy, just new to Linux. This servers function would be for NAT, DHCP, firewall/Gateway only .. Any suggestions..?

well, heres a hardware setup.

cable modem -> linux server -> hub -> win boxes

as far as setup you want to look at ip forwarding or setting up you linux server as a dhcp server...which is usually an option during install. there is plenty of documentation on the net about these things...try linuxdoc.org. sorry i cant give you step by step instructions. im far too lazy for that
