Samba is working great for me except that I cannot play mp3's over the network. Every so often they skip for a few seconds.

I think this may be related to something I see when I copy large files over the network. The network passes a chuck, and then hangs for a few seconds, and then continues. Is there a way around this?

Regards.

It should work just fine if there is no other network activity going on. Here at home, there is almost none, but at work with about 22 pcs on the network, it wouldn't have much of a chance.

Yeah, I get that. The setup in question is two boxen on a crossover, at home (in the same room).

Could the stalling be a duplex problem? I heard that if you don't force full duplex, packets could run into each other.

Just wondering.
