I currently have Mandrake 7.2 installed on a primary ext2 partition that comes after the primary FAT32 partition. I have this setup since I have given up on installing Mandrake on a logical drive (I tried this twice, but the system would only display the message "stage1" and then freeze). My problem is that I cant boot into my linux partition without a floppy. I am currently using Boot Magic, and when I try to boot into it using this boot manager the system just freezes cold.

Hi Gianfranko (sei italiano pure tu?)
I also installed Mandrake 7.2 2 days ago on a primary ext2 partition after the primary fat partition. But i can boot normally using GRUB which let me choose whether to start Windows or Linux. Uhm I guess problem is GRUB or LILO not correctly installed/configured.
Sorry friend, as i'm a total beginner, I cant help you any more.
Ciao

I think Boot Magic sux. Honestly. Partition Magic is great but Boot Magic is a waste of money. Anyways, I suggest you uninstall Boot Magic. If Boot Magic still loads up when u start up (with no boot disk) then what u need to do is get a DOS boot disk and type: fdisk /mbr
or if that doesnt work then: fdisk \mbr
basically what that does is delete your Master Boot Record to work with windows only.
Now u should install mandrake.
Good Luck!

Honestly all you need for this to work is one. Have Partition Magic point at your boot partition, and 2 have lilo installed on your boot partition.
It sounds like you might not have lilo installed correctly or even installed.
Boot magic won't boot the kernel but it can pass the boot process over to a linux boot loader. So make sure you have lilo installed on your boot partition.
