Hi All, having difficulties persuading a DE220P Dlink card to work, - it has been suggested i check out that linux isn't trying to send stuff out of the UTP socket rather than the Co-ax 10 base thingie. Anyone know how I can check this?

umm 220's are isa ... I configured my 220's (E and D series) with the dlink dos configuration utility before firing them up ...
I skimmed the source for the ne module --- it doesn't look like it can force the card to use one or the other, it relies on the card to set it's state ... so I suspect you have to use the dos config ...

Keep in mind that the config for the E series on these cards allowed you to reset the mac address --- be exceedingly careful NOT to do this ...although the MAC addr is on a sticker on the card, it will cause you no end of grief in the meantime if you alter it...

Uh, duh. The computer had windows on before this in the same network, so presumably it has had this here dos utility thing done on it, yes? It worked ok then, well, as well as windows networks run anyway.
Thanks, then. Looks like that isn't the direction to look in after all.
