I just got 4 simms of memory but I do not know how to tell what kind they are so I don't want to put it in. Of the four there are 2 sets of 2's. One has larger chips than the other. How do I find out which kind I have? I am running a AMD 550 with 62 megs of memory right now.

Which kind? You mean brand? Thats printed on the chips, and so is the size, but that may be a bear to decode. The mfg have no standard scheme here. Speed is also on the chips, but often coded into a letter. The physical size of things is of no importance whatever. Often, you can read the chip brand, and his website will provide what you need. I rarely ever do this. I stick pairs in a box, and see what happens. It's best to remove your memory completely while running these tests. Mixing speeds often causes a failure symptom from perfectly good memory.HTH, Ray
