I posted a topic yesterday about being ready to jump from Mandrake to Debian. I think that I have everything in order, but upon review of the install guide one last time, I'm a liitle unsure about the section of the install where you configure your network settings. I'm running Roaring Penguin right now with a ADSL line. How does this affect the network install?? I don't have anything but the DNS servers. Everything else is assigned automatically. Should I just skip over this part and do it by hand later?

My router is running debian with PPPoe.. was hella easy. Just setup eth0 with 192.168.1.14 or whatever, and setup eth1 with 192.168.0.1 or whatever (make sure they are not both 192.168.1.* it really screws up routing). Then just compile it from source. Took me all of 5 minutes

this isn't going to be a router though... just my main desktop machine. the whole router thing is another thing all together... should i make fix up the other computer that I was planning on using as a router first? That way I would have static info to enter during the debian install of my desktop?

What I did is:
Mr Debian PC: Routing with PPPoe on Eth0, Lan on Eth1. Setup IPChains (Great NHF on it).
Mr Mandrake PC (superior Distro): Set gateway to the debian PC's eth1 card, along with name servers etc.
Go to Mr Debian and compile roaring penguin blah blah blah, type adsl-setup, set it up, and use firewall none (ip chains will take care of it. I had to disable all the previous IP chains with debian because it was blockign all ports and was fun and gay)
