Help with named?

I'm attempting to set up my first name server and unfortunately I am having problems. BTW, I am running Suse 6.4 with all the current patches. The machine will be a dns/mail/ftp/http server eventually.

Other machines on my LAN can use the system for DNS with no problems, however I cannot add entries for local machines or servers on the same machine.

I have checked the DNS-HOWTO series at LDP and followed the directions to the best of my ability.

When use nslookup I can find localhost fine. However checking the linux.bogus domain from the howto returns
*** localhost can't find linux.bogus.: Non-existant host/domain

I copy/pasted the named.conf and zone entries from the howto so there should be no typos.
I changed IP addresses listed in the files to 192.168.0.33, the temporary address of the machine inhouse.

Any clues or pointers?
