I installed KDE2 from rpms for SuSE6.4 from the SuSE update server. There was an rpm called 'alsa.rpm', I thought I wouldn't need it as I had already ALSA installed and working pefectly with Helix GNOME. So I didn't download and install it. However, starting KDE2, I noticed that the sound programs in KDE2 didn't work. In GNOME they still worked. So my question is simple: Will I have to install alsa.rpm? Is it some sort of ALSA support for KDE2 or is it the ALSA base packet? (Which I have installed from source) My worries are that if it is the driver package, that it could be installed in some strange prefix (as I use the automatic update.sh script also on the server) and that that could result in conflicts with my existing ALSA installation. Excuse my bad english in this post, I'm in a hurry http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
