I couldn't get my old canon bj200 to print under linux. I used printtool, chose local printer, and the stupid lp0 was not detected!!???!!??????
I edited conf.modules like it was suggested here, run modprobe lp, and still did not work !!!???
Well.... guess what ??? A friend of mine (surfer) suggested to look in the BIOS. I went in there and my stupid parallel port was set to AUTO (3 options: AUTO,ENABLED,DISABLED). I changed it to ENABLED, rebooted, ran printtool and... happy, happy, joy, joy I Can print!!!
