Due to the bug in RH 7.0 that breaks jdk1.2.2, I need to upgrade the glibc patch (provided by RH), and several other packages.
When I install it, there are "file conflict" warning messages for virtually every file in the package. Not being brave, I decided not to use the --force option. (BTW, I used rpm -ivh, not rpm -U).
I've searched for FAQs, info's and help's on upgrading or applying patches to libraries but can't find much.
Any recommendations? Are patches like these designed to only affect the problem they fix or could they cause breakage somewhere else (I guess I'm asking if RH regression tests these patches)? Do I bite-the-bullet and do a --force, or would -U help?
