I was reading this computer paper We Compute, and I saw this really cool hack for Windows 95/98, so I thought I'd share it. It's by Shirin Rostami. If you dual boot, this is something you might want to try out.
If you right click on My Computer -> Properties, you get the System Properties menu. You may have a big space on the bottom left corner of that window, or a logo of some sort. Wanna change that to Tux? http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif I did! Fire up the Gimp or whatever and create a picture (.BMP format), and have it at a size of 160x120 pixels. Save it as \Windows\System\oemlogo.bmp If you already have a file called oemlogo.bmp, either back it up, or destroy it. That's the original logo. Next you need to create a file called \Windows\System\oeminfo.ini Add the following:
[general]
Manufacturer=Your name
[Support Information]
Line1=Linux.
Line2=The choice of a GNU generation!
Of course you can have anything you like on the [Support Information] section. Save it, open up your System Properties again and voila! Tux!
