Well, after fiddling around with wine for a few hours last night, i was able to get version 4.11 of DivX Bundle working; the codecs and Playa installed perfectly. Playa playback is perfect (though you can cause the sound to go out of sync by giving it too much menu action); the gui disappears once you start playing a file and you can't run it fullscreen, but other than that, everything's cool!

Well, good for you but what's wrong with using avifile (http://avifile.sourceforge.net/)?

Sigh! avifile works for me and plays beautifully. But it always stalls :(
I want ot put xine in last night but I got all recursive errors when I got to the end of make :(
Can some one please help me get a avi/divx/mpeg player working? :( :(

Tried mplayer (http://www.MPlayerHQ.hu) already?
It works fine for me (when I use the windows codecs) and it plays just about any avi I throw at it beautifully. The only thing I couldn't get going was the gui, so I had to adapt the filetypes in konqueror to launch it when I click on an avi or mpeg file.

The problem I have with AVIFILE is I can't use it and MainActor at the same time. Switching from one to the other involves some pretty fancy RPM switching of the libstdc++ library.
Also, AVIFILE doesn't seem to play ALL divx files, like my Warcraft 3 trailer. ='(
I'd love to get the 4.11 bundle working through wine. Any specifics on how to get it working, because I believe I've tried it before and no dice.
