X fonts are readable!

this is a very half-#%% solve, but its good enough for me. the Times font is weird in X, just change to Helvtica or something, then everything is easy to read.

Yes, both switching to helvetica and installing TTFs are vital. As usual with X, while the defaults may not be great, there's almost always an option of some kind that is.

b_c - Yes. I'm not sure if the fonts stuff has changed in X 4.0.x or not, but I think this discussion is talking about X 3.3.x
