Theres two way to do this for under $10 a year.

1. Register a domain name at powerpipe.com($8.99 per yr) and open an free dns account at www.centralinfo.net. (http://www.centralinfo.net.) Have your domain name point to centralinfo.net dns servers. Then download NeoUpdate from www.iamnewbie.com/neoupdate. (http://www.iamnewbie.com/neoupdate.) Install the program and the program will update your ip with central info whenever change is detected.

2. Second method . register domain and open account on centralinfo.net. register for an account on yi.org and download their update client .Login into centralinfo and change the type A record to CNAME and put your subdomain.yi.org beside it. Then any address requesting www.yourdomain.com (http://www.yourdomain.com) will point to
www.yourdomain.com->subdomain.yi.org->ip (http://www.yourdomain.com->subdomain.yi.org->ip) address

The only difference between two method is when you ping your domain using second method it will show subdomain.yi.org instead of www.yourdomain.com (http://www.yourdomain.com)

Hope I didn't confuse anyone http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

i have done the same thing except using dotster.com ($15/year) and yi.org and centralinfo.net

the thing i like about dotster is the web based management, you change and add stuff straight from the web yourself for free and whenever you need to
