I noticed how fragile Netscapes Java implementation is(version 1.1.5). It is common to get crashes if you run Java Applets in Netscape 4.75. I decided to install Blackdowns Java and indeed it is much more stable. Supporting Swing applets, not one crash so far, and slightly faster as well. This is 1.3 their latest release available from, http://www.blackdown.org.

By the way I use Red Hat 7.0.
After installation and setting the CLASSPATH I was to disable the old Netscape VM is to rename cpPack1.jar to cpPack1.jar_DISABLED in /usr/lib/netscape/plugins
Suns Plugin website is http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/index.html
You can use it with Mozilla as well I think, I never tryed it myself but apparently the latest M18 is pretty good. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

You can set options of the plugin from
/usr/local/j2sdk1.3.0/jre/JavaPluginControlPanel.html that is if you install it into /usr/local/ the rest is the same.
