Well as many of you know, I could never get debian to work (as I sit around bugging everyone). Well I figured it out finally.
#1. recompiled with kernel 2.2.18 (not 2.4.0 ... bad things with that one).
#2. Made sure to include agpgart and usb
#3. got to be very friendly with modprobe and lsmod
Now everything works.. woohoo! So if you have a geforce 2, make sure you have agpgart in there. Because by default it isnt. As for usb, I think i loaded usb-huci with modprobe, but dont quote me, im not on that system right now. At any rate.. wooohoo.. package management goodness.. ahh
