Anyone install KDE or KDE 2 on thier solaris box? I loaded kde 1.1.2 on solaris 7 but I am looking for some better documentation.. I had to "hack it up" and it has ****ty resolution and is kinda slow...

I'd rather run CDE than KDE...

I cant stand CDE.. even with the customized color, it looks like crap... but thanks for the input...

Well, if you're learning Solaris for a potential job, most companies run CDE. I agree, it's not pretty, but with a little tweaking it's bearable.

Anyhow, are you gonna post the FreeBSD X config for the Voodoo 5?

Yeah, I was looking for that post, was it yours? And, i have been a solaris user for over 5 years.. I have KDE running on almost all my Solaris machines but 1.1.2 has its setbacks...

1) very slow on solaris
2) X server on solaris gives crappy resolution...
2) Solaris 8 is better suited to run but has hidden init files so I cannot add to option menu...

You the one who needs Voodoo 5 support for FreeBSD ? here is the config...

ATI mach 64 chipset and Voodoo 5 should run..
that is what I am using and with minimal tweaking it works..

I thought you were gonna post the config file, not just tell me it 'should run'. That doesn't help at all. I already heard it 'should' work. That's why I was hoping I could compare your config file with mine and see what's diff (hehe).
