hostname... "unkown"

I'm running HP_UX 10.2 on my box and have encountered a small problem that seems to be preventing my OS from loading. Everytime I reboot my system it "forgets" its name. I've set the name using set_parms hostname and it recognizes it within that command set, but when queried with the hostname command it resonds unkown?

amnesia is a horrible thing...
